AS Media Presentation - Evaluation
Today I will be evaluating my presentation of Kanye west famous. This is because the marketing scheme behind it was one of the best use of media to date. As I explained social media is the biggest platform in the world and has the widest reach. I discussed people could feel involved with the beef by sharing it around. This was effective because it was a unique perspective on modern media and reflected how sometimes most things you see on the news are fake or even calculated.
The first slide was based on a popular term in pop culture, which is the word ‘beef’ this is a euphemism for the word controversy meaning; prolonged public disagreement or heated discussion. The relevance of this is that this created a lot of buzz around the issue. It all began in 2009, at MTV's Video Music Awards. Taylor was just a 19-year-old singer. She won the Best Female Video award for "You Belong With Me," and took to the stage to thank country music. However was interrupted by the magnificent Kanye west. I think the use of context when presenting helped the audience understand the background to the issue and why it made headlines internationally. Also for those who don’t know who Kanye west or Taylor swift are. In terms of presenting a lot more should have been put onto the slide in order to prompt me and convey the point across a lot more clearly. However looking at my target audience; who are 17-year-olds I can deduce the short attention span, and unwillingness to read long paragraphs on a slide. Which is why I took the approach of having key pictures and words in order to prompt myself and help the audience understand my intentions. This also allowed me to talk more freely and if I had any additional points that could be woven into the presentation I could do so.
On the other hand, the lack of information could lead to stumbles and pauses in my presentation, this was a concern of mine because if not planned correctly could lead to points of silences. I could improve this by small pieces of texts on the actual powerpoint next time. This would create a margin for error, and better prompt me at points of stuttering. Which was the case when my slides got mixed up, which next time will lead to a thorough examination of my slides before having them ready to present.
In conclusion, my presentation was unique because it was a different approach to the media task. I also added the social media aspect which is something that is relevant to everyone. This suggested how media is everywhere without people actually knowing about it, and by thinking they are following a trend can end up as a massive marketing campaign. However, due to the lack of written information on my slide left me pondering what to say next whilst in the middle of the presentation, which is a massive factor to improve on.
